ELECTION DAY: AUGUST 26TH, 2025!
Meet David
Proven Leader. Deep Roots.
David L. Silverstein is a businessman, lawyer, real estate developer, and longtime Mountain Brook resident with a deep love for this community. A husband, father of five, and grandfather to fourteen, David’s life has been shaped by this city’s values of excellence, tradition, and service. He previously served on the Mountain Brook Planning Commission from 1994 to 2003, a period that saw a surge in growth. Now, he’s ready to give back in a new way.
With decades of leadership in law and commercial development, David has a proven ability to unite people and deliver results. Among his accomplishments are transformative real estate developments such as The Summit Birmingham, the historic Pizitz Building, and Cahaba Village, which have had lasting economic and community impact. Beyond his professional work, David has demonstrated a deep commitment to civic service, having served on the local boards of the American Heart Association and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. He currently serves on the boards of the Alabama Holocaust Education Center and Leadership Alabama, and is a member of the UAB St. Vincent’s Advisory Board. David is widely respected for his ability to tackle complex challenges with clarity, integrity, and a focus on outcomes.
David believes Mountain Brook deserves a City Council that listens, collaborates, and plans for the future. He’s running to preserve what makes this city great—its neighborhoods, schools, and character—while ensuring it remains strong and forward-looking for generations to come.
“I’ve lived in Mountain Brook nearly all my life. I married my high school sweetheart, Susan, and we raised our five kids just a few blocks from where we both grew up. Today, eleven of our fourteen grandchildren are either in Mountain Brook schools or will be soon. This city isn’t just where I live — it’s where our whole family story has unfolded.
That’s why I’m running for City Council."
